Meet Hert Capital and How He Uses Stocktwits

On Stocktwits, HertCapital has been known for quite some time. But for those reading who haven’t had a chance to follow him, we asked him a few questions about his strategy, philosophy, and why he’s starting a Premium Room on Stocktwits.

So kick back and read our four-question Q&A to see what he’s learned in markets. His new Premium Room is called ATTHEMARGN and the focus is a multi-factor investment solution that puts investors at the center of global markets. That includes a live look at portfolio updates and a lot more.

What has your journey in markets been like and how much experience do you have?

I have over 20 years of experience in the investment business with firms based in Santiago and New York. My previous positions have included Head Trader, Portfolio Manager for a hedge fund and Chief International Strategist. I currently run my own discretionary management firm and advise HNWI and family offices in Chile.

How do you plan to use your Premium Room and who benefits from it?

Very often self-directed investors don’t have the time required to develop a long-term working thesis for the financial markets or screen for actionable trade ideas or manage a portfolio. ‘At The Margn’ is designed to optimize time by putting our members at the center of the financial markets with a proven macro strategy, a daily list of investment recommendations, a third-party verified model portfolio and real-time technical analysis.

What’s your approach to markets today?

Our investment program is built on a process that blends quantitative and qualitative data points with detailed technical analysis. We believe that a multi-factor approach is a flexible way to stack probabilities in our favor.

Tell us about an investment you made that you’re most proud of for finding and executing on.

In the summer of 2002, I started my own firm and quickly took on new clients that had suffered notable losses at their previous manager. In August, despite the uncertainty in the markets, we took a long position in SOHU that was triggering from a bullish outside month pattern. In October, we opened a new trade in SINA. SINA, another Chinese ADR, was triggering from a bullish outside month pattern. We closed both trades in January and covered the losses of the clients. The experience demonstrated that our investment methodology could successfully navigate a difficult trading environment and convinced the clients to select us as their lead asset manager. The clients remain with us today.
