Does the Stock Market Really Care About the Media or Hedge Fund Managers?

About a year ago, the following image was one of the most shared and viewed charts on StockTwits. Several thousand people looked at it and hundreds of them liked and re-shared it.

But why?

Consider this quick fact: the S&P 500 is up over 100 points since it was first posted.

If you remember, this chart was first shared during the 2015 correction when oil was crashing and Chinese equity markets were in freefall. During that time Carl Icahn, Bill Gross, and Jim Cramer all advised people to stay away from stocks. Quotes like, “Danger ahead” and “Now is not the time to buy” were said and published.
