Finding and Adding RSS Feeds to StockTwits Desktop

A great new feature of StockTwits Desktop is the ability to add streams of news from RSS Feeds.  Below, we will walk through how to find an RSS feed on a website, copy the link, and enter it into StockTwits Desktop.  In addition, we will provide a list of helpful RSS feeds to get you started.

Finding and Adding an RSS Feed to StockTwits Desktop

1.  Go to the website or blog you wish to add a feed for. And look for a orange/red RSS button, or a “Subscribe to this…” link.  I have posted a screenshot of where it is on the StockTwits blog below:

2.  When you have found the button, right-click on it and select “Copy Link Location”

3. Open up your StockTwits Desktop to the deck you wish to add an RSS Stream, and Click on the red “Add Streams” button in the upper left-hand corner.

4. A menu of streams will pop up.  Click on “Add” below the “RSS Feed” button.

5.  A window will pop up, asking you to enter an RSS Feed. Place your cursor in the field and right-click and select “Paste”.

6.  The address for the RSS feed you found should now appear in the box.  Click “Load” to add the RSS Feed in a new stream. The Stream should then appear on the active deck in your desktop.

To get you started we have created a list of some good RSS feeds that you can simply copy and paste into the “Add RSS Feed” box.

“Best RSS Links for ST Desktop” Group

Last night, StockTwits Czar @ppearlman has started a “Best RSS Links for ST Desktop” group on StockTwits Desktop for users to share links to good RSS feeds.  In fact @Attitrade has already submitted a great link to a feed which is a mashup of over 10 different options RSS feeds, which is just awesome:

In addition to this we also have SkyGrid News streams built in, so you can add a stream for “All News” as well as symbol specific news from Skygrid.

Hopefully this serves as a good primer on RSS Feeds and is enough to get you started.  In the future, we hope to make RSS even better and StockTwits Desktop an even more sophisticated information and news portal.
