International Stock Symbols Recognized by StockTwits

StockTwits has begun recognizing symbols from 3 international equity markets. These are Toronto, London and Frankfurt.

Below is a brief description of how to tweet these symbols so that they are included in the StockTwits stream.

The symbols for the different exchanges are as follows:

TSE = Toronto Stock Exchange

LSE = London Stock Exchange

FSE = Frankfurt Stock Exchange

To post to a specific exchange you type: $EXCHANGE:SYMBOL

For example: On the Toronto exchange, the Phoenix Income Fund is symbol PHX.UN

This will be expressed:

$TSE:PHX.UN or $TSE:PHX

We will soon be adding equities from more markets around the globe and your suggestions and questions are greatly appreciated in the comments below.

    I agree that "TSE" is totally misleading to anyone who owns or watches stocks in Canada. The Toronto Stock Exchange (actually TMX Group Inc., ticker: X) manages all listings on the TSX Exchange (N=1988 listings) and the TSX Venture Exchange (N=2383 listings).

    If you want one prefix to handle both, "TMX" might be appropriate (with an explanation). If you want to separate them, you wouldn't be confusing anyone if you used "T" and "V" as prefixes, or "TSX" and "VEN".

    i will follow $TSE $LSE and $FSE very closely in the weeks to come to understand better as a newbie here.

    Can't get the ticker for Western Lithium Canada Corp. accepted to put into my portfolio. I tried TSE:WLC, TSX:WLC and also V.WLC in combi with TSE or TSX. What is the issue here?

    Thanks,

    Cannot find the symbol for FTSE 100 Index on LSE, also would like to get the correct symbol for DAX Index- i think i came close with FSE:DAX but I'm not sure if the resulting symbol I got is the index. Adding CAC40, SMI -Swiss Market Index, DJ Stoxx50, Nordic Index OMXS30 are also popular over in Europe.
  • Hi Howard, Phil

    What about key commodities like oil, copper, gold, silver?. Many of us use the ETF symbols because of lack of proper ones.

    Regards and keep up the good job.

    Consider Vancouver Exchange now Toronto Venture Exchange ( CVE )
    where microcap and discovery investing stocks are traded.
    Unlike OTC in US, CVE is regulated. More or less CVE is comparable
    to AMEX

    You should definitely consider including BOVESPA, the Brazilian Stock Exchange, for instance $BOVESPA:PETR4.SA or $BOVESPA:PETR4. Congratulations for your site. Cleber Gomes, PhD @tradynnet

    thanks cg. we will.
  • Sorry, should have mentioned this earlier but TSE is now the TSX. All press releases have TSX in them. TSE is the old name and could be confused with Tokyo Stock Exchange.

    Just wanted to give you a heads up.

    thanks g!
